WMG Artists & Songwriters Win at ACMs and iHeartRadio Music Awards

Last night was another great moment for WMG, as our artists and songwriters took home top accolades at two of the industry’s most celebrated awards ceremonies.

Beginning with the 51st Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, Dave Cobb — who recently signed a publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell and launched a label imprint, Low Country Sound, via Elektra Records — was named Producer of the Year in recognition of his renowned work with Elektra’s Anderson East, W/C songwriters A Thousand Horses, W/C songwriter Chris Stapleton, and others.

Warner Music Artists Win Big at Emma Gaala

Last night, Warner Music artists won awards in 12 of the most prestigious categories at Emma Gaala aka the Finnish Grammys. Amazingly, Warner Music Finland won 60% of all awards presented, including:

Sanni for Female Artist of the Year and Song of the Year;

Antti Tuisku for Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Pop Album of the Year;

JVG for Band of the Year and Most Streamed Local Track of the Year;

J. Karjalainen for Rock Album of the Year;

Chisu for Critic’s Choice of the Year;

Cheek for Music Video of the Year and Artist of the Year (both voted by the audience); and

RIP Sir George Martin

The many tributes being paid to Sir George Martin, who died yesterday at the age of 90, describe him as “the fifth Beatle”, such was his creative input into their amazing work.

What is less known is that he was also, in effect, the founder of the Parlophone Records we know today.

He joined Parlophone in 1950, heading the label from 1955. The company’s focus at that time was on classical music, original cast recordings and comedy records. It was in the early 1960s that he chose to expand the label’s repertoire to the relatively new genre of rock and roll.

Rhino Entertainment Names Patti Coleman SVP and Head of Business & Legal Affairs

Rhino Entertainment, the catalog division of Warner Music Group (WMG), has named Patti Coleman Senior Vice President and Head of Business and Legal Affairs. Based in the company’s headquarters in Burbank, CA, Coleman will to report to Mark Pinkus, President of Rhino Entertainment.
