WCM songwriter Beyoncé becomes second-most honored woman in Grammy history

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM) celebrated multi-genre success at last night’s 57th Annual Grammy Awards, where the company’s songwriters won an impressive six out of the nine “Best Song” categories: Best Rock Song, Best R&B Song, Best Rap Song, Best Country Song, Best Song Written or Visual Media, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song (full details below).

All told, Warner/Chappell songwriters contributed to 25 Grammy wins. Beyoncé won three awards, taking her lifetime total to 20, and making her the second-most honored woman in Grammy history.

“This is a truly thrilling moment for the entire Warner/Chappell team,” said Cameron Strang, Chairman & CEO, Warner/Chappell Music. “Not only did our amazing writers win the large majority of the Grammy song categories, but their awards reflect the rich diversity of our roster – cutting across nearly every musical field. Congratulations to our songwriters and to the artists who bring their songs alive.”

“I am constantly awed by the power of words and music to move people in so many different ways,” said Jon Platt, President, North America, Warner/Chappell Music. “The writers who contributed to our fantastic Grammy showing this year are at the top of their game, and all of us at WCM are so proud to see their talent and perseverance rewarded with our industry’s highest honor. Thanks to the terrific WCM team for their hard work that is paying off with great moments like these.”

Warner/Chappell’s Grammy accomplishments follow a series of accolades for the company in the past year, including being named Publisher of the Year at ASCAP’s Pop, Country and Rhythm & Soul Awards, as well as at BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.
