Bublé’s Musical Director, Co-Writer and BMI 2009 “Songwriter of the Year,” Alan Chang Signs Expanded Deal

Warner/Chappell Music, the global music-publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp. (NYSE: WMG), today announced an extension of its worldwide publishing agreement with Grammy Award and multiple Juno Award-winning Reprise Records recording artist Michael Bublé. Warner/Chappell Music also announced an expansion of its worldwide publishing agreement with songwriter, pianist and Bublé’s musical director, Alan Chang. Originally signed in 2005, Bublé will continue to publish his catalog of work through Warner/Chappell, including a number of songs co-written by Chang from Bublé’s multi-platinum hit albums, Michael Bublé, It’s Time and Call Me Irresponsible as well as future compositions.

The agreement also includes Bublé’s fourth studio album, Crazy Love, released on October 9th, 2009, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and has remained at No. 1 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Albums chart for 15 consecutive weeks and has sold more than 1.2 million units to date according to Nielsen SoundScan. Crazy Love, which has been certified Platinum in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America, features two songs co-written by Bublé, Alan Chang and fellow Warner/Chappell songwriter Amy Foster, “Haven’t Met You Yet” and “Hold On.” “Haven’t Met You Yet” is currently the No. 1 single on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

In making the announcement, Scott Francis, President, Warner/Chappell Music, and Chairman and CEO, Warner/Chappell Music U.S., said, “We are honored to strengthen our relationship with a premiere artist such as Michael Bublé and his musical director Alan Chang. Michael is a great performer whose fantastic interpretations of musical standards make it all too easy to forget that he is also a terrific composer with a long list of original credits to his name. I am also pleased to continue our relationship with Alan, a brilliant songwriter in his own right who has collaborated with Michael on some of his most successful works. Together, along with Amy Foster, they have proven themselves to be a truly formidable songwriting team over the past six years.”

Bublé added, "I've been with Warner/Chappell since I first wrote ’Home’ for the It's Time album, it was an easy decision."

Chang said, “It has been such a wonderful experience to work so closely with Michael and the Warner/Chappell team. I’m thrilled to continue my relationship with them.”

Since 2003, Bublé has released seven albums and won more than a dozen international awards. Bublé won the 2007 “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” Grammy Award for Call Me Irresponsible. Bublé has also been recognized with multiple Juno Awards including the “Fan Choice Award” and “Artist of the Year” in 2008, “Pop Album of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Single of the Year” in 2006, as well as “Best New Artist,” in 2004. His first No. 1 single, “Home,” was also a multi-week No. 1 hit on Billboard’s County Single charts for Warner Bros. Records Nashville recording artist Blake Shelton.

A 2002 University of Southern California School of Music graduate, Alan Chang became Bublé’s musical director in 2003. Together, Bublé and Chang have collaborated on a number of hit singles including “Everything,” which won the 2008 Canadian Smooth Jazz Award for “Best Original Composition” and “Home.” In 2009, Chang shared BMI’s “Songwriter of the Year” award.

In 2006, Bublé, Chang and Foster shared the “Songwriter of the Year” award from the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) for the hit song, “Home,” one of the singles from Bublé’s second studio album, It’s Time, which won a 2006 Juno Award for “Single of the Year.” To date, the multi-platinum album, It’s Time, has sold more than 3.3 million copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan and spent 154 weeks on the Billboard Jazz charts where it currently holds the No. 1 position.

In addition, both It’s Time and Call Me Irresponsible have been certified multi-platinum by IFPI, while 2003's debut album, Michael Bublé, has also been certified platinum in Europe and in the United States.

Currently, Michael Bublé is preparing for his worldwide Crazy Love tour which begins on March 10, 2010 in Orlando, Florida.
