Includes North American Rights for All Eagles Albums
Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp. (NYSE: WMG), today announced that it has expanded its worldwide agreement with GRAMMY® Award-winning performer and songwriter Don Henley, a founding member of the Eagles. As part of the agreement, Warner/Chappell will now administer worldwide publishing rights to Henley’s share of all Eagles albums, marking the first time that a major music publisher will administer Henley’s shares of the group’s catalog in the U.S. Warner/Chappell Music began its relationship with Henley in 1993, and will continue to administer his solo catalog and future compositions worldwide, as well as his Eagles songs outside the U.S.
In making the announcement, Scott Francis, President of Warner/Chappell Music and Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music U.S., said, “Don is one of the preeminent artists of our time, whose songs and performances have connected with millions of fans around the world and across multiple genres. Don has been a leading musical voice, as well as an advocate for a number of educational, environmental and civic causes. We are honored to continue our relationship with him and the Eagles, and with such a renowned catalog of work.”
"Warner/Chappell has been administering my solo songs for 17 years in the U.S., and it made good sense to expand our relationship to include my Eagles songs,” said Don Henley. "I trust that my music is in good hands with the company.”
Don Henley, both as solo artist and as a member of the Eagles, has received countless accolades and numerous gold and platinum records, and has performed sold-out concert tours worldwide. A highly respected, popular and critically acclaimed musical artist, Henley is a founding member, vocalist and songwriter of the Eagles, who pioneered and epitomized a musical style incorporating country, folk, rhythm and blues, rock and pop to become one of the most influential bands in America. Henley’s solo career is equally acclaimed, with such hits as “Dirty Laundry,” “The Heart Of The Matter,” “Boys Of Summer,” "The End Of The Innocence" and “All She Wants To Do Is Dance." He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 as a member of the Eagles. Visit Don Henley’s web site at www.donhenley.com for more information.
In 1990, Henley founded the Walden Woods Project (WWP), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting the historic woods in Massachusetts, honoring the legacy of author/conservationist Henry David Thoreau. To date, the WWP has raised over 35 million dollars, preserved 150 historic acres in Walden Woods and established education programs for students and scholars of all ages. The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five #1 U.S. singles and six GRAMMY® Awards. Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 is the best-selling album of all time, exceeding sales of 29 million units according to the RIAA. The band's Hotel California and Their Greatest Hits Volume 2 have sold more than 16 and 11 million albums, respectively. Visit the band’s Web site at www.eaglesband.com for more information.
In April 2010, the Eagles resume their Long Road Out of Eden World Tour.
