Acclaimed songwriter’s Pink Floyd work continues to be administered by global publisher
Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp., today announced it has extended its worldwide agreement with legendary singer-songwriter and founding member of Pink Floyd, Roger Waters. Warner/Chappell Music will continue to administer Waters’ share of all Pink Floyd’s songs from their first UK album number one in 1970, through their remarkable run of releases, up until the point when Waters left the band.
The deal includes compositions from one of the most revered and successful collections of albums in modern music: ‘Saucerful of Secrets’ (1968), 'Atom Heart Mother' (1970), ‘Meddle’ (1971), ‘Obscured by Clouds’ (1972), 'The Dark Side of the Moon' (1973), ‘Wish You Were Here' (1975), 'Animals' (1977), 'The Wall' (1979), and 'The Final Cut' (1983). It is estimated that Pink Floyd has sold over 200 million albums worldwide, with ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ and ‘The Wall’ amongst the best-selling records in chart history. Classic songs included in this repertoire are ‘Time’, ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’, ‘Wish You Were Here’, ‘Mother’ and ‘Another Brick in the Wall Part II’.
Waters’ solo career has included three celebrated studio albums, ‘The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking’ (1984), ‘Radio K.A.O.S’. (1987) and ‘Amused to Death’ (1992) as well as a live album ‘In the Flesh’ (2000) and ‘Ça Ira’ (2005), an opera about the French Revolution. He has toured all over the world, playing some of the biggest, most acclaimed shows in rock history. In 1990, he staged ‘The Wall - Live in Berlin’ with in excess of 300,000 people in attendance. For his world tours of 2006–2008, he returned to ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, performing it in its entirety. This year, Waters announced ‘The Wall Live’ tour, starting in North America in September 2010 and ending in Europe in June 2011.
