2018 WMG Grammy Nominations

Today, the Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. Warner/Chappell’s Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar led the pack with eight and seven nominations respectively, followed by Atlantic Records artist & Warner/Chappell songwriter Bruno Mars with six. Bruno and Jay-Z landed nominations in the three top categories: Record of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year.

Warner Music Group and Anghami Enter Long Term Direct Deal to Provide Music to the Middle East and North Africa

Warner Music Group (WMG) and Anghami, the largest streaming service in the Middle East and North Africa, today announce a new direct licensing deal that brings WMG’s vast catalog of music to the region.  Previously, WMG was represented through an affiliate deal for Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and nearby territories. The new deal creates a direct agreement with Anghami for the region, extending WMG’s reach further to Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

Anghami offers on demand music and video through either an ad-supported or paid subscription

Beth Appleton Named General Manager – Australia & SVP Marketing – Australasia for Warner Music

Beth Appleton has been named General Manager – Australia & SVP Marketing – Australasia for Warner Music. Appleton, who joined Warner Music in 2011, will relocate to Sydney from London, where she has served as SVP of Global Marketing since 2014. In her new post, Appleton will oversee the day-to-day operations of Warner Music Australia, as well as marketing for the Australasian region. She will report to Niko Nordström, President of Warner Music Australasia, and will take up the role from January 22, 2018, following the completion of normal immigration procedures.

Asylum Records Relaunched In U.S.

Kenny Weagly Named President

Warner Music Group (WMG) has relaunched its iconic Asylum Records label in the U.S. The label’s new incarnation is headed by long-time WMG executive Kenny Weagly, who has been named President. In addition, Grammy-winning producer Dante Ross has been named Senior Vice President, A&R.
