Jorge Drexler signs with Warner Chappell Spain

Legendary singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler has signed a global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music Spain. The five-time Latin Grammy winner has released thirteen studio albums in his own name and written for other high-profile international artists including Rosario, Shakira and most recently has co-written with C Tangana.

Drexler is also the first Uruguayan to win an Academy Award, with ‘Al Otro Lado Del Rio’, which he wrote for the 2005 movie The Motorcycle Diaries, being named Best Original Song.

Simon Robson Named President, International, Recorded Music for Warner Music Group

Simon Robson has been appointed to the central leadership role of President, International, Recorded Music for Warner Music Group. Overseeing the company’s operations outside the U.S. and U.K., he will be based in London and report to Max Lousada, Global CEO of Recorded Music, Warner Music Group.

Robson has been with Warner for over two decades and has served as President of Warner Music Asia since 2015. Under his leadership, the company expanded its presence in key markets such as China, Japan, Korea, and Indonesia, and opened a new affiliate in Vietnam.


Warner Music Inks Licensing Deal with Audiomack for Key African Territories

Warner Music has announced a new licensing agreement with artist-first music streaming platform Audiomack, making the record company’s diverse catalogue available on the service across Africa, Canada, and Jamaica for the first time.

Audiomack, which boasts more than 16 million monthly active users, will also provide support for Warner Music’s A&R research activities across these territories.

Highly regarded artist manager Trenton Harrison-Lewis has joined Warner Music UK (WMUK) in a newly created dual role as SVP Artist and Label Development, ADA and WMUK. In a career spanning more than three decades, Harrison-Lewis has helped develop the careers of a string of influential artists, working with everyone from Amy Winehouse and Goldie, to Giggs and Ghetts.

In his new role, Harrison-Lewis will focus on nurturing new and emerging artists affiliated with ADA UK, Warner Music Group’s award-winning independent label services division.
