Scott Maclachlan Appointed SVP of A&R at Warner Music Australasia

Leading music manager Scott Maclachlan is to join the team at Warner Music Australasia as SVP of A&R. He will report to Niko Nordström, President of Warner Music Australasia, and will split his time between the company’s Auckland and Sydney offices.

Maclachlan is the co-founder and director of Saiko Management, a boutique music management company with offices in Auckland and New York. He is best known for unearthing and nurturing Lorde and SOL3 MIO, two of New Zealand’s biggest ever artists.

Warner Music Strikes Licensing Deal for Spinnin’ Repertoire with NetEase

Warner Music Group (WMG) has struck a deal with NetEase, the Chinese audio and video streaming service, to license music from Spinnin’ Records, the world’s leading international dance record label.

The deal will enable NetEase Music’s 400 million users to access repertoire from some of the world’s leading DJs and producers including Afrojack, Alok, Bingo Players, CARTA, Don Diablo, Jay Hardway, KSHMR, Lucas & Steve, Oliver Heldens, Sam Feldt and Tiësto.

NetEase Music enables users to comment and share the licensed music available on its platform.


Warner Music Appoints Marcela Vaccari as VP, Business Development, Latin America and Spain

Warner Music has appointed Marcela Vaccari as Vice President, Business Development, Latin America and Spain. She will be based in Miami and report to Iñigo Zabala, President, Latin America and Iberia, Warner Music.

In her new role, Vaccari will work on enhancing Warner Music’s existing business partnerships and striking new deals to help grow revenue for the record company and its artists.

Niko Nordström, President of Warner Music Australasia, has been honored with a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Emma Gaala, the Finnish equivalent of the U.S. Grammy Awards. This year’s Emma Gaala, which has been run by IFPI Finland for more than three decades, was held on Saturday night at the Espoo Metro Areena in Helsinki.

Nordström was the Managing Director of Warner Music Finland from 2007 to 2017, when he left to take up his current post in Sydney.


WMG Launches Warner Music Middle East

Warner Music Group (WMG) has announced the launch of Warner Music Middle East, a new wholly-owned recorded music affiliate covering 17 markets across the Middle East and North Africa, an area with a total population of 380 million. The new division is based in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, which is an important creative hub for A&R, as well as being one of the main centres for regional media and technology.
