Orchard Co-Founder Joins Senior Management Team


Widely respected music entrepreneur Scott Cohen has joined Warner Music Group (WMG) in the newly created position of Chief Innovation Officer, Recorded Music. Cohen, who co-founded pioneering digital music, film & video distribution company The Orchard, reports to Max Lousada, WMG’s CEO, Recorded Music. In his new post, Cohen will work closely with Lousada and other members of Warner’s senior management team to help chart the long-term course of the company at the intersection of music, technology, and culture.

Flagship Artists AzChike and 1TakeJay to Release New Music in March 2019


Records announced today that the company has partnered with West Coast powerhouse creative agency, R Baron Group, to launch a new label, The Machine Works. The first acts signed to the new deal are Los Angeles-based emcees AzChike and 1TakeJay. Atlantic Records will work in tandem with Warner Music Group subsidiary Asylum Records on marketing, distribution, and promotional efforts for The Machine Works and its roster.

Tony, Oscar, and Grammy Award Winner Stephen Schwartz Signs Worldwide Publishing Agreement With Warner/Chappell Music

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, today announced that it has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with prolific musical theatre composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. The composer of hit musicals Godspell, Pippin, and Wicked, Schwartz is the recipient of three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, and the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award.

Michael Lynton Joins Warner Music Group Board of Directors as Chairman

Warner Music Group Corp. (WMG) today announced that Michael Lynton has been elected non-executive Chairman of the Board, effective February 7th. Lynton is currently Chairman of Snap Inc. and was previously CEO of Sony Entertainment, which included overseeing Sony Pictures, Sony Music Entertainment and Sony/ATV Music Publishing. The WMG Board of Directors now numbers 11, including the most recent additions, in 2017, of international economist Noreena Hertz and WMG CEO of Global Recorded Music Max Lousada.
