October 10, 2017

Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with 23-time Grammy-winner Juanes. His latest ground-breaking release, Mis Planes son Amarte, was the first visual album in Spanish, and went to No. 1 in 14 countries and has generated three No. 1 singles so far. Juanes was recently nominated for five Latin Grammys, including Album of the Year and two for Record of the Year, making him the most nominated artist in Latin Grammy history.

Juanes said, “I’m very excited to start this new stage in my songwriting career with Warner/Chappell Music, alongside Jon Platt and Gustavo Menendez, both of whom I’ve known for years. I know that they share my love and eternal passion for music.”

“It’s an honor to have the chance to work with such an iconic songwriter like Juanes, whose music has helped shape the Latin music industry and reached people all over the world,” said Gustavo Menendez, President, Latin America, at Warner/Chappell Music. “He’s constantly pushing boundaries and reaching for new heights, and we are thrilled and humbled that he trusts us to be a part of this new stage in his songwriting career.”

Juanes is the recipient of a whopping 21 Latin Grammy Awards, and has won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album twice. Other accolades include 10 Latin Billboard Music Awards, 11 Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica, 14 Premios Lo Nuestro, nine Premios Nuestra Tierra, three Premios Oye!, an MTV Video Music Award, and the BMI President’s Award, among others.

Previously a member of the rock band Ekhymosis, Juanes has released seven solo studio albums since 2000, three of which have reached No. 1 on Billboard’s US Latin Albums chart. Juanes’ most recent project, the critically acclaimed visual album Mis Planes son Amarte, was the only Latin release to be named one of the 50 Best Albums of 2017 So Far by Rolling Stone. The multi-platinum-selling songwriter’s latest single, “El Ratico” ft. Kali Uchis, topped charts across Latin America, spent five weeks at No. 1 in Colombia, and has spent 14 consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart so far. Later this year, Juanes will join the cast of La Voz España (Spain’s version of The Voice) as a coach.

Though the Colombian singer-songwriter performs predominantly in Spanish, he has also recorded tracks in Italian, Portuguese, German, and English, and his music has found an audience in non-Hispanic markets across the globe. In addition to earning multi-platinum status in Spain, Mexico, and Argentina, Juanes’ third studio album, Mi Sangre, was certified 8x platinum in the United States, 3x Gold in Germany, platinum in Finland, Switzerland, and Portugal, and Gold in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

Outside of music, Juanes has been a vocal activist for victims of anti-personnel mines, acting as a Goodwill Ambassador for the nonprofit organization United for Colombia and establishing the Mi Sangre Foundation. For his humanitarian work, Juanes was awarded France’s highest cultural honor, L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
