Multi-Platinum Global Superstar Cardi B Signs Worldwide Co-Publishing Deal with Warner Chappell Music

Warner Chappell Music has entered into a worldwide co-publishing agreement with Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum global superstar Cardi B. The deal covers future works as well as recent releases, including her current smash collaboration with Warner Chappell songwriter and fellow Atlantic recording artist Lizzo, “Rumors,” which became Cardi’s seventh No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. A true groundbreaker, Cardi was the first woman to have five simultaneous Top 10 hits on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart in a single week as well as the first female rapper with five No. 1’s on the Billboard Hot 100.

Warner Chappell Music President of A&R, U.S., Ryan Press, said: “Cardi is a defining artist of our culture – a master lyricist and show-stopping performer who’s already racked up a deep collection of hits after just six years in the game. Her distinctive voice, fearless authenticity, and unmistakable style have elevated her into a world of her own. All of us at Warner Chappell couldn’t be more excited to join forces with her as she continues her incredible creative evolution.”

On signing with Warner Chappell, Cardi B stated: “I've always admired how Guy, Carianne, Ryan Press, and the Warner Chappell team support their songwriters and artists and I look forward to a thriving and successful partnership with them.”

Warner Chappell Music Co-Chair and CEO, Guy Moot, and Co-Chair and COO, Carianne Marshall, noted: “Cardi is a one-of-a-kind artist who continues to be at the top of her game, creating records that dominate the charts time after time. Her music truly speaks for itself, and we’re incredibly honored to be in business with this modern-day icon.”

Cardi B made her musical debut in 2015 on Shaggy’s remix of “Boom Boom,” alongside fellow Jamaican dancehall singer Popcaan. A year later, she released her first full-length project, a mixtape titled Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1., followed in 2017 by Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2. That same year, she was nominated for two BET Awards – Best New Artist and Best Female Hip-Hop Artist – and signed with Atlantic Records, releasing her debut commercial single, “Bodak Yellow.” The song climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100, and Cardi went on to become the first female rapper to earn RIAA diamond single certification. Several chart toppers followed, including features on G-Eazy's "No Limit" and Ozuna's "La Modelo.” After releasing her hit single “Bartier Cardi” with 21 Savage, Cardi partnered up with Bruno Mars on his remix track “Finesse,” which climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and ruled charts across the globe.

In the spring of 2018, Cardi B’s official debut studio album, Invasion Of Privacy, arrived, featuring appearances by Migos, Chance the Rapper, Kehlani, SZA, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin. The RIAA triple-platinum album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards, while all 13 tracks have been RIAA certified gold or higher – making Cardi the first female artist to achieve this feat. Three years after its release, Invasion Of Privacy is still making history, becoming the first album by a female rapper to spend 175 weeks on the Billboard 200. To cap off her banner year in 2018, Cardi was featured on Jennifer Lopez’s “Dinero” and Maroon 5’s Grammy-nominated “Girls Like You.” And in 2019, she received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance for her collaboration with Offset, “Clout.”

In 2020, Cardi released “WAP (feat. Megan Thee Stallion),” which debuted and spent multiple weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The blockbuster track quickly broke a string of records, including the highest-streaming first week by a female or male artist and the most first-week streams for any song in 2020. It also became one of the top 3 hip-hop streaming debuts of all time.

Cardi B has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including receiving six ASCAP Pop Music Awards and 20 ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards, while also being named Songwriter of the Year at ASCAP’s Rhythm and Soul Awards in 2019 and 2020, making her the first female songwriter to win the award for two consecutive years. She’s earned a Grammy Award, eight Grammy nominations, eight Billboard Music Awards, five Guinness World Records, five American Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, three iHeartRadio Titanium Awards, six BET Awards, and 14 BET Hip Hop Awards. In 2019, Time featured her on its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. And in 2020, Cardi was named Woman of the Year at the Billboard Women in Music Awards – a first for a female rapper.
