Parlophone Records and Warner Chappell Music UK today announced the joint signing of fast-rising London indie group Tooth. The dual record and publishing agreement marks a major milestone for the band as they prepare for the release of their brand-new single, ‘Take Me As I Am’ – out this Friday.
Formed by vocalist Tom Pollock and guitarist Ben Ashley straight out of school, and completed by drummer Roy Lowe and bassist Charlie Arnison, Tooth have built a fierce grassroots following through raucous live performances across the UK. Blending the guitar-driven edge of classic UK indie rock with the emotional weight and complex dynamics of Midwest emo, the band have quickly positioned themselves as one of the country’s most compelling new acts.
‘Take Me As I Am’ follows the band’s critically acclaimed debut EP, Restless in Bloom, which earned widespread praise across the music press earlier this year. The new release caps off an intensive summer circuit for the group, which included performances at The Great Escape, 2000trees, Wilderness, and Reading & Leeds. Tooth will celebrate the signing and single release with upcoming headline shows later this month at London’s The Garage, Portsmouth’s The Wedgewood Rooms, and Brighton’s DUST.
Tooth said: “We are honoured to be a new crop in such legendary musical pastures. Let’s dance!”
Jen Ivory, Managing Director of Parlophone Records, added: “Tooth embodies everything that makes British guitar music so vibrant right now – between their explosive live shows and razor-sharp musical references, they’re primed for a breakthrough and are the kind of vital homegrown talent we love to nurture at Parlophone. I’m so happy to be working alongside our partners at Warner Chappell, as we look to build Tooth’s promising career.”
Amber Davis, SVP and Head of A&R at Warner Chappell Music UK, added: “Tooth are evolving what it means to be in a guitar band with an adventurous songwriting style that sets them apart in today’s scene. Tom Booth, who recently joined the A&R team, has been instrumental in bringing them into Warner Chappell and we’re delighted to be working with the band, and our colleagues at Parlophone, as Tooth start the next stage of their journey.”
