Rhino Entertainment Names Eric Franklin Vice President, Digital Account Strategy

Rhino Entertainment, the catalog division of Warner Music Group (WMG), has upped Eric Franklin to Vice President of Digital Account Strategy. Based in Los Angeles, Franklin reports to Mark Pinkus, President U.S. Catalog and Rhino Entertainment.

In his new role, Franklin is responsible for overseeing U.S. digital revenues and account relationships, including Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and other global digital platforms. Franklin's team conceives and executes global digital marketing and promotional strategies for Rhino’s vast catalog of iconic artists, including Led Zeppelin, The Notorious B.I.G., Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Madonna, Prince, and many others.

"Eric's passion for music is manifested in his exceptional work," said Pinkus. "He’s a stand-out leader, whose enthusiasm and experience helps drive Warner's world-class catalog to new audiences, while broadening our relationships with partners and existing fans. I look forward to the ongoing impact he will have in 2021 and beyond, and congratulate him on this much-deserved promotion."

Franklin was previously Senior Director of Digital Sales at Rhino, where he partnered with Spotify to create the first multi-media playlist for a legacy artist, "This Is: Led Zeppelin," to honor the band's 50th anniversary. He also worked closely with Apple and Amazon to produce documentaries for the 25th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready to Die album, as well as with Amazon for the 25th anniversary of Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers. In addition, Franklin has secured numerous featured placements and playlist adds for Warner Music's catalog across all major DSPs, and will continue to lead the company in developing and executing strategies in support of emerging commercial platforms.

"Starting as an intern for Giant Records while I was still in college, all I ever wanted was to be close to the music and artists that fed my soul," said Franklin. "To work in this industry for 20 years is a blessing, but to be able to champion this catalog and work with this team is winning the lottery. I’m honored to join Rhino’s exceptional and well-respected executive team of equally passionate music lovers. I could not be more grateful to Mark Pinkus and Kevin Gore for welcoming me into the catalog family with open arms, and entrusting me with this new role.”

Born in Burbank, California, Franklin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Literature and Culture in 2000 from the University of California, Los Angeles. Prior to joining Rhino, Franklin spent fifteen years in digital and physical account management in the Sales Department at Warner Records. He currently resides in Burbank with his wife of 20 years, Jennifer, their sons Jack and Lucas, their dogs Rocky and Ruby, their tropical fish, as well as his vast guitar collection.
