Steve’s association with Warner Music Group runs deep – from his foundational work with the Stax Records house band and boundary-crossing hitmakers like Booker T. & the M.G.’s and Otis Redding, to his role as an architect of the Atlantic soul sound, working with Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, the Blues Brothers, and many others. A brilliant guitarist, he was also a masterful producer and songwriter, co-penning such timeless classics as Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay” and Pickett’s “In The Midnight Hour.” Steve’s immense contributions live at the very bedrock of our musical culture, and we send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans, and his countless musical colleagues across the globe.”
