Warner Chappell Music France Signs Ikaz Boi

May 17, 2021

Warner Chappell Music France, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, has signed a worldwide deal with in-demand urban and electronic producer Ikaz Boi, who has composed songs for international acts from Quavo to Hoodrich Pablo Juan, as well as some of the biggest names in French rap, such as Damso and Niska.

In addition to a successful songwriting career, Ikaz Boi – who was born Zaki Ghafir – is also a successful artist, and all three of his solo projects have received widespread critical acclaim.

Ikaz Boi says: “I’m excited to work with Matthieu, Joris and the team at Warner Chappell France. I’ve got a number of projects in the pipeline, both working with other artists and my solo work, which I think will land well with my fans and hopefully engage new listeners.”

Matthieu Tessier adds: “Ikaz Boi is one of the top producers on the scene in France, and he’s also worked with some of the biggest names in global music. We’re delighted to welcome him to our roster of writers and keen to support him by setting up more collaborations across borders and genres.”

Ikaz Boi became interested in both electronic and urban music as a teenager, progressing from making music in his bedroom in La Roche-sur-Yon to working with emerging talent within a few years. He collaborated with the likes of Freeze Corleone, Joke and 13Block, who were up and coming on the French rap scene at the time.

He ventured to both Chicago and Toronto, where he got to know top producers Derek Wise and WondaGurl. The experience gave him an international perspective and opened the door to working with artists such as Travis Scott and Quavo, whose song ‘RERUN’ he co-produced with WondaGurl.
