August 25, 2014

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the global publishing arm of Warner Music Group Corp., today announced that it has extended its worldwide publishing agreement with Grammy award-winner and two-time ASCAP Country Songwriter of the Year Brett James. WCM has also extended its publishing agreement with James’ publishing company, Cornman Music.

Ben Vaughn, Executive Vice President, Warner/Chappell Music Nashville, said, “Whether it’s the writing room, the office, the studio, or the board room, Brett James operates at the highest level as a songwriter, producer, talent developer, & publisher. It’s a real pleasure for Warner/Chappell to represent Brett and work with his team of Nate Lowery & Shea Fowler at Cornman Music. There is so much great music coming from Brett & Cornman – watch out world.”

James added, “Warner Chappell is the perfect partner for me and my Cornman music family.  They combine a peerless creative culture with a worldwide administrative juggernaut to provide us with an amazing platform for success. I truly enjoy working and playing with them on a daily basis and am thrilled to continue our relationship.”

One of today’s most influential songwriters, James has had over four hundred of his songs recorded, 17 of which were No. 1 hits, and has worked on albums with combined sales of more than 100 million copies.

James co-wrote Kelly Clarkson’s multi-week No. 1 single, “Mr. Know It All,” and won a Grammy for Best Country Song for Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Some of James’ other hits include “Bottoms Up” (Brantley Gilbert), “I Hold On” (Dierks Bentley), “Summer Nights” (Rascal Flatts), “Out Last Night” (Kenny Chesney), “The Truth” (Jason Aldean), and the current Miranda Lambert/Carrie Underwood duet “Somethin’ Bad.” He has also penned songs for Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Faith Hill, Esther Dean, The Fray, Colbie Caillat, Bon Jovi, Daughtry, Backstreet Boys, Paula Rubino, Leona Lewis, and Pia Toscano, among others.

Alongside his songwriting talent, James is also a highly successful producer and publisher. His production credits include Kip Moore’s award-winning debut album, Up All Night, which included back-to-back-to back No. 1 singles. As a publisher, Cornman Music has developed such talent as Kip Moore, Stephen Lee Olsen, Caitlyn Smith, & Erik Dylan.

Serving on the boards of both the CMA and NSAI, Brett James is a firmly established fixture in the Nashville music community. A native of Oklahoma, James now lives in Brentwood, Tennessee with his wife Sandy and their four children.
