Warner/Chappell Songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez Win Academy Award For Best Original Song For Frozen’s “Let It Go”

Lopez is Youngest-Ever to Win Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards
 
On Sunday night, Warner/Chappell husband-and-wife songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez won the Academy Award for “Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song),” in recognition of “Let it Go” from Disney’s Frozen. With this win, Lopez joins an exclusive list of just 12 other individuals who have each won Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards in competitive categories.  He is the youngest person ever to have earned all four awards, and did so in just 10 years.

The Platinum-certified soundtrack album for Frozen—which includes six songs published by Warner/Chappell Music in its Deluxe edition—recently hit another milestone with its 5th week spent at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. It was also recently announced that the film, which officially grossed more than $1B in worldwide box office sales, is the most successful non-sequel—and the second-most successful overall—animated film ever.
 
For his work on The Book of Mormon, Lopez picked up the 2011 Tony Awards for the top honor of “Best Musical” as well as “Best Original Score,” an award he also received at the 2004 Tonys for his work on Avenue Q. In addition, The Book of Mormon earned him a Grammy for “Best Musical Theater Album,” while his work on Nickelodeon’s The Wonder Pets landed him Emmys for “Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition” in both 2008 and 2010. Lopez also received an Emmy nomination for his contribution to the “My Musical” episode of the television series Scrubs.
 
Lopez and Anderson-Lopez also co-wrote songs for Winnie the Pooh and Finding Nemo: The Musical. They are currently writing the forthcoming original stage musical entitled Up Here. Lopez’s work can also be heard on South Park, The Simpsons, and Phineas and Ferb.
