Darcus Beese Joins Warner Music UK as EVP and New Label President

A&R and music industry luminary, Darcus Beese OBE, will be joining Warner Music UK (WMUK) on 1st July in a newly created dual role as EVP, WMUK and President of a new joint venture record label. Most recently President and CEO of Island Records US, Beese brings with him over three decades of expertise in label-building and developing the careers of artists, among them Amy Winehouse, Dizzee Rascal, Jessie J and Florence and the Machine. As a member of WMUK’s senior leadership team, he will report into WMUK CEO Tony Harlow.

Sherry Tan Appointed as MD of Warner Music China

Successful media exec Sherry Tan has been tapped by Warner Music Group to become head of its recorded music business in Mainland China. Tan will be based in Beijing and report to Jonathan Serbin, CEO of Warner Music Greater China.

She joins Warner Music from Mengxing Media, a start-up company she co-founded and which serviced high-profile entertainment figures, such as singer and actor Kris Wu and TV director Zhang Li. Mengxing Media also co-produced high-profile entertainment shows including The Voice and Tmall Double Eleven Gala 2020.

Warner Music Group Partners with Songclip™ to Power “Music As A Feature”

Warner Music Group (WMG) and music technology company Songclip have signed a strategic global multi-year partnership which will see Songclip use WMG’s catalogue on its API, enabling music integrations across video, dating and gaming apps.

Songclip has created an API that, when integrated with other apps, allows users to search for and share music clips in everything from their social media feeds to their online dating profiles while simultaneously providing data analytics on how consumers interact with music to the social platforms, mobile apps and virtual marketplaces that use its service.

Warner Music Acquires Leading Indie Label Zhara Music

Warner Music Group has today announced the acquisition of leading indie label Zhara Music, and the launch of the Russian division of its legendary Atlantic Records label.

Zhara Music, which was founded less than three years ago, has become a hugely significant player in the fast-growing Russian music industry. As a result of the deal, the label will be rebranded to continue its successful operations as Atlantic Records Russia, plugging into Warner Music’s global network.
