Country Songwriter Jessi Alexander Signs Worldwide Co-Publishing Agreement with THiS Music & Warner/Chappell Music

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, along with Nashville-based music publishing company THiS Music, today announced that it has signed a worldwide co-publishing agreement with CMA Award-winning singer-songwriter Jessi Alexander. Alexander’s songs have dominated the country charts in recent years, with Blake Shelton’s “Mine Would Be You” and “Drink on It”, and Eric Paslay’s “Song About a Girl.” Alexander also co-wrote Lee Brice’s platinum-selling single “I Drive Your Truck,” which was named “Song of the Year” at the 2013 CMA Awards, the 2014 ACM Awards, and the 2013 NSAI Awards; the song was also nominated for a Grammy Award for “Country Song of the Year.”

Warner/Chappell UK’s Jane Bell Moves to New York

Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, today announced that Jane Bell, Senior International Creative Manager, has relocated from the company's London office to its New York office. With this move, Bell will focus on championing international songwriters in the U.S., as well as help the company’s American songwriting talent build a presence overseas.

Open Letter to Warner/Chappell Songwriters from Jon Platt

As you may be aware, for the last two years, ASCAP and BMI have been in discussions with U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding the decades-old consent decrees that govern ASCAP’s and BMI’s licensing practices. The objective was to have the consent decrees amended and updated in order to make them more responsive to today’s fast-moving, and increasingly digital, music business. However, in a hugely disappointing decision, the DOJ has declined to implement any of the changes requested by ASCAP and BMI.

Low Country Sound and Warner/Chappell Nashville Sign Co-Publishing Agreements with Songwriters Adam Hood, Charlie Pate and Aaron Raitiere

Low Country Sound and Warner/Chappell Nashville today announced that they have signed publishing agreements with songwriters Adam Hood, Charlie Pate and Aaron Raitiere. Low Country Sound is the publishing venture jointly established by Warner/Chappell and Low Country Sound Owner Dave Cobb in January. The songwriters will primarily work out of Nashville’s historic Studio A, which Cobb recently took up residence in.

New Roc Nation Nashville Division Partners With Warner/Chappell & Jesse Frasure

Roc Nation Nashville, a newly formed division of Roc Nation, the full-service entertainment company, has entered into a publishing partnership with Warner/Chappell Music (WCM), the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group (WMG). Under the agreement, WCM will publish Roc Nation Nashville’s music publishing repertoire. This marks the latest pact between Roc Nation and WCM, which first joined forces in 2013, when the companies signed global publishing agreements for JAY Z and Roc Nation’s music publishing roster.
