Peter Gray Named EVP, Head Of Promotion For Warner Bros. Records

August 6, 2014

Warner Bros. Records (WBR) today announced the promotion of Peter Gray to Executive Vice President, Head of Promotion. Based at the company’s Burbank headquarters, Gray reports to WBR Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang. As a member of WBR’s senior management team, he works closely with Strang to help forge the strategic direction of the company, while overseeing all aspects of radio promotion for the Warner Bros. and Reprise labels. Gray joined WBR in 2011 as Senior Vice President, Promotion.

“Since joining WBR three years ago, Peter has been the driving force behind our success across a diversity of radio formats, leading a dedicated and well-respected team that has helped break new talent and build the careers of superstars,” said Cameron Strang. “I am pleased to welcome him to this much-deserved new post.”

“The environment at WBR is the most exciting and forward-thinking in the music industry today” said Peter Gray. “I want to applaud the best promotion team in the business and thank Cameron for fostering such a creative and dynamic atmosphere. I am looking forward to all I know we can accomplish on behalf of the incredible artists that call our company home.”

Gray was named to Billboard’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list in both 2012 and 2013.  During his time at WBR, he has overseen a wide array of chart success stories – from such established artists as The Black Keys, Jason Derulo, Green Day, Linkin Park, Michael Bublé, Neil Young, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and Muse to emerging talent like Royal Blood, Big Data, Echosmith, and Nico & Vinz. Gray’s promotion team also drove the pop radio domination of Grammy winners Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Prior to Warner Bros., Peter Gray spent nearly a decade at RCA Music Group, starting out as Senior Director, Pop Promotion, based in Los Angeles. He moved to New York in 2005 as Vice President, Pop Promotion, and was named Senior Vice President of Promotion in 2009.  Gray and his family returned to LA in 2011 when he joined WBR. The Milwaukee-area native began his music industry career in 1998 as an intern at A&M Records in Hollywood.
