Peter Thea Named EVP, Creative Operations for Warner Bros. Records

Multi-talented Executive Joins Legendary Label’s Senior Management Team
 
Warner Bros. Records (WBR) today announced the appointment of Peter Thea as Executive Vice President, Creative Operations. Based at the company’s Burbank headquarters, Thea will report to WBR Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang.  In his new post, Thea will work closely with newly appointed WBR President Dan McCarroll on A&R strategy and the development of creative initiatives.

Records. “From his early days as a recording engineer to his accomplishments as an attorney and most recently as an A&R executive, he boasts an expansive blend of talents – from making records to making deals – as well as great relationships throughout both the artistic and business communities. With Peter on board, along with new WBR President Dan McCarroll, we have expanded our already fantastic, highly dedicated team. The coming year at WBR promises to be very exciting, both for breaking new artists and taking established names to new heights.”

Thea served as Executive Vice President of Universal Republic & Island Def Jam from 2011 to 2013, prior to which he spent twelve years on the senior management team at Jive Records. As Executive Vice President and head of the A&R Department, he worked closely with such Jive artists as Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, T-Pain, Usher, Three Days Grace and many others.
 
Prior to his tenure at Jive, Thea was co-founder and Managing Partner of the entertainment law firm Tavel, Thea & Baker, where his clients included Cash Money Records, Godsmack, and Teddy Riley, among many others.  He began his career in music as a recording engineer, engineering albums with such artists as Aerosmith, Grateful Dead, Billy Idol, Humble Pie, and UFO.
 
Thea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Columbia University and earned his law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.
