SPANISH MUSIC INDUSTRY JOINS TOGETHER FOR “MUSIC FOR EQUALITY” 2026

March 24, 2026

In an unprecedented show of industry-wide solidarity, Spain’s leading music organizations – including Warner Music Group/ She Sounds, Live Nation, Sony Music, Ticketmaster among others – convened at the Círculo de Bellas Artes for the second edition of Music for Equality.

Moving beyond its inaugural success at the Movistar Arena, the 2026 forum evolved into a massive collaborative coalition. The event aimed to dismantle structural barriers and foster a more sustainable, diverse, and humane music ecosystem within the Spanish market.

Breaking the Silence on Mental Health

The forum kicked off with a high-impact panel on “Mental Health and Wellbeing,” which brought together psychologists and artists—including WMG artist Paul Alone, WMS Talent Manager Iratxe Blanch and specialist Nerea Palomares—to discuss the urgent need to build a “culture of care” across the professional music landscape.

Closing the Technical Gender Gap

While female representation has increased on stage, behind-the-scenes roles remain a final frontier for equality. The second panel dived into the persistent lack of diversity in technical and operational roles—from sound engineering and lighting to tour management. Industry veterans analyzed the informal recruitment networks that often exclude underrepresented talent and shared concrete strategies for mentorship and inclusive hiring.

The summit concluded with an exclusive data presentation by the MIM Association (Women in the Music Industry), revealing the latest metrics on the gender gap in Spain, followed by an industry networking reception.
