“Staged” To Premiere Today On ‘The Warner Sound’ Original YouTube Channel

March 20, 2012

Song lyrics rearranged as scripts for cinematic comedies and dramas

Gym Class Heroes and CeeLo Green among the artists each given their own unique episodes

Principato-Young Entertainment, Koda Pictures and The Warner Sound, the original YouTube channel built on a love of music, are proud to announce that “Staged”, an original web series created, developed and produced exclusively for the channel, will debut today at youtube.com/thewarnersound. “Staged” showcases comedic and dramatic scenes driven by the lyrics of Warner Music’s top artists. Each episode presents re-arranged and re-interpreted lyrics, from a different artist, as a brand new story; told in a way that is uniquely stylized and highly cinematic.

The first episode features the lyrics of Gym Class Heroes, set to a 1960s spy thriller and starring Creed Bratton from “The Office.” CeeLo Green is among the other artists to be given the “Staged” treatment, with WWE’s Goldberg starring. This premiere follows the successful launch of The Warner Sound one week ago, with a live stream of SXSW performances and a behind-the-scenes show, ‘Countdown To Diggy’, both big hits with the fans.

Ocean MacAdams, General Manager of The Warner Sound, said “This extraordinary show is a great example of what’s possible with our channel: it’s an imaginative idea, with music in its DNA, which is brilliantly executed with a YouTube audience in mind. PYE and Koda Pictures have done a first-class job, and we’re all very grateful to all the artists who have happily given their lyrics this new surreal double life.”

“Staged” was created and developed by Koda Pictures and Principato-Young Entertainment. The series was inspired by Ma$terpiece Theatre, a live show created by Josh Covitt and Steven Szlaga, and starring Koda Pictures executive producer, Brandon Olive. A variety of special guest stars will appear in “Staged” alongside the original Ma$terpiece Theatre cast: Olive, Covitt, Szlaga, Amy Vorpahl,Blake Walker, and Johanna Parker. The first episode will be directed by Harry Frishberg, who will also serve as supervising director for the series. The series will be edited by Max Frishberg.

“Staged” debuts March 15th at youtube.com/thewarnersound. The first episode features the lyrics of Gym Class Heroes, set to a 1960s spy thriller.
