Third Man Records Partners With Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA)

September 12, 2013

Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), the independent music distribution arm of Warner Music Group, today announced a partnership with independent record label Third Man Records. Based in Nashville and founded by Jack White, Third Man has released recordings from The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Beck, Alabama Shakes, and Conan O’Brien, among others. ADA will contribute its digital & physical distribution services to releases from the label’s roster of artists.

“Third Man Records is redefining what a record label can be—their fondness for limited releases, unique packaging and rare recordings, demonstrates a true appreciation for their fans,” said Ari Taitz, SVP, Independent Distribution and Strategic Development, WEA and ADA, and David Orleans, President, ADA. “It’s a great pleasure to work with a company so in love with the record release process. This is going to be a lot of fun.”

Ben Blackwell of Third Man Records, added “With NRP as our mastering house and URP as our manufacturer, ADA is the final ingredient in our alphabet soup dream team.”

Third Man Records was founded in Detroit, Michigan, in 2001. The label established its first physical location in Nashville, TN in 2009, which houses a record store and performance venue, and also serves as the company’s headquarters. In addition to the aforementioned artists, Third Man Records has released recordings from Jack White, The Dead Weather, Wanda Jackson, The Greenhornes, Dungen, First Aid Kit, Chris Thile and Michael Daves, Seasick Steven, Loretta Lynn, JEFF The Brotherhood, Insane Clown Posse, Tom Jones, The Black Lips, Ted Leo, White Denim, Drive-By Truckers, Cold War Kids, Reggie Watts, King Tuff, and The Shins, among many others.

In June of 2012, ADA expanded its services to the independent music community by officially joining forces with Independent Label Group (ILG), adding the company’s resources and expertise in radio promotion, publicity and marketing to ADA’s current offering. Since that time, ADA has signed a range of new deals, including ones with hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as well as labels such as PRMD, Partisan Records, The End Records, Innovative Leisure, New West, and Sumerian Records.
