October 20, 2023

The move brings together the three companies into one shared space for the very first time

The Warner Music Group companies have all relocated from Hilversum to a central spot in the city with views of the harbour

Warner Music Group (WMG) has proudly unveiled its new creative hub, The Amsterdam Music Harbour, home to Warner Music (WM) Benelux, Warner Chappell Music (WCM) Benelux and Spinnin’ Records.

The newly opened space, a multi-level warehouse with industry chic vibes, is home to its employees, as well as a resource for domestic and international artists, songwriters, and producers.  The Amsterdam Music Harbour has four high quality recording studios, as well as various creative spaces, and is located near key WMG partners including AFAS, Arena, Google, Hugo Boss, Netflix and Ziggo.

The grand opening last night was attended by more than 400 guests, including WMG teams from across the world. The evening was hosted by Niels Walboomers, WMG’s President of Records and Publishing, Benelux, and the Co-Presidents of Spinnin’ Records, Ewout Swart and Roger De Graaf.

The evening saw performances from international DJs Billy Gillies, Chasing Abbey, Dastic, Joel Corry, LOVRA, and Nathan Dawe; Warner Music Benelux new signed artists Roxy Dekker, Sven Cilliers and Zoë Livay; and Warner Chappell-signed songwriters Jarreau Vandal and Numidia.

The opening took place on the first day of Amsterdam Dance Event 2023, one of the world’s biggest dance music festivals, which last year saw over 300,000 artists, songwriters, producers, industry teams and fans attend events, workshops, panels and performances all over the city.

Niels Walboomers, President of Records and Publishing, Benelux says:Today is the start of a new era for WMG in the Dutch market.  Amsterdam is the beating heart of the Netherlands and where our teams, artists and songwriters want to be.  With our brand-new recording studios and facilities, we’re empowered to evolve our creative culture across our recorded music and publishing businesses. We can’t wait to welcome our artists, songwriters and WMG teams from all around the world to collaborate with us at the Amsterdam Music Harbour so we can do what we do best – enable our artists and songwriters to create amazing new music.”

Ewout Swart and Roger De Graaf, Co-Presidents, Spinnin’ Records adds: “We’re proud to take prime position in this beautifully converted warehouse in the centre of the city.  Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most energetic and vibrant cities, and the opening of the space exemplifies our commitment to remain the largest and most innovative dance label in the world.  The new space and its facilities will enable us to offer leading experiences for both the current and future generation of Spinnin’ Records.”

This year has been huge for Spinnin’ Records too, with new music from Alok, Don Diablo, Gabry Ponte, Lucas & Steve, Lum!x, Mike Williams, R3hab, Tiesto and Timmy Trumpet, the launch of new innovative projects for their artists in the metaverse, hitting 30 million subscribers on YouTube, and a global expansion with new roles being created in Beijing, London and Los Angeles.

WM Benelux and WCM Benelux have also had a massive year. Its Atlantic Records Benelux label signed local superstar Antoon, who beat The Weeknd amongst others to become the most listened to artist in the Dutch charts in 2022. He has enjoyed recent success with hit singles such as “Hallo”, Hotelschool”, “Olivia” and “Vluchtstrook”.

WM Benelux has also signed hot and upcoming talents including Lenny Monsou, Roxy Dekker, Sven Cilliers and Zoë Livay.  It has run hugely successful campaigns for Warner Music’s international acts, including Benson Boone, Burna Boy, Blur, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Kenya Grace, and Teddy Swims, amplifying their music across the region.

WCM Benelux has signed significant Dutch writers and producers including Brahim Fouradi, Grammy-nominated Reverse, and Unleaded.
