At this year’s prestigious ECHO awards in Berlin, Bernd Dopp, Chairman & CEO, Warner Music Central Europe, and his team celebrated wins for several of their artists.  Two of the coveted trophies were won by Robin Schulz, while other awards went to Udo Lindenberg, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay and Iron Maiden.

Robin Schulz’s success story has been exceptional.  He is the most internationally successful German artist of his generation, with numerous Gold and Platinum selling records and a sell-out headlining tour of Europe under his belt.  Schulz’s double ECHO award win underlines how important he is to German music today.  He was named “Best Selling Artist Overseas” and his track Sugar won an ECHO for Best German Dance Single.  Schulz looked delighted as he collected these awards which underline his status as a truly exceptional artist.

Udo Lindenberg was as energetic as ever on the ECHO stage as he performed his new single Durch Die Schweren Zeiten.  The video for the song was honoured with the coveted ECHO for Best German Music Video.  It is hard to believe that this legendary artist is celebrating his 70th birthday this year.  It is fitting that his latest album title translates as Stronger Than Time and his forthcoming tour as Do Not Panic!

Warner Music’s international artists did not go home empty handed either.  Ed Sheeran won the ECHO for Best International Artist for a second consecutive year after his album x has remained in the German charts for nearly 100 weeks.  Coldplay added a fourth ECHO to their overall tally, claiming the title of Best International Rock/Pop Band, following on from awards in 2006, 2009 and 2012.  Iron Maiden were named Best International Rock/Alternative Band after the success of their The Book of Souls tour and eponymous number one album.

Enya gave a stunning rendition of her track Echoes In Rain, supported by two pairs of dancers performing in the pouring rain on stage.  Before the ceremony, Enya received a gold disc from Warner Music Central Europe for her latest album Dark Sky Island.
