Swedish band Bolaget have signed a global deal with Warner Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group. The news comes as the band claim the top two positions in the Official Swedish Charts and the top four positions on the Spotify chart, after also bagging the top two positions in Spotify’s chart of the most played songs of 2023.
Adam Bergestål, Gustav Jörgensen, Oliver Norqvist and William Ahlborg formed indie-punk band Bolaget – “the company” – in 2019, first playing a party at a bachelor’s hostel in their home town of Falun in central Sweden.
They went on to conquer the country’s charts. ‘Kan inte gå’ was the most streamed song in Sweden on Spotify in 2022, and in 2023 the band claimed the top two spots on the chart with ‘Ikväll igen’, which topped the official charts for 14 weeks, and ‘Kan inte gå’. The band also had a recent Number One hit with ‘Farväl’, thanking fans for being by their side in 2023.
Bolaget have now generated more than 325 million streams since the start of 2019, with 170 million in the last year alone, and had a huge impact on Sweden’s gig and festival circuit. They signed a record deal with Warner Music Sweden in February 2023.
They currently occupy the top four positions on Spotify’s weekly chart, with ‘Låt Mig Va’’, their collab with Victor Leksell at #1, ‘Astronaut’ at #2, ‘Kan inte gå’ at #3 and ‘Ikväll Igen’ at #4.
